Our weekend

So it all began on Thursday night at about 1 am when Kennedy started throwing up. She threw up every 30 minutes or so until about 7 am, when she woke up happy as a clam. She seemed a little more tired than usual, but that was all. So we gave her some pedialyte and called it good. She really handled it very well.

Then on Saturday night, I started feeling a little queasy when I was out with friends. So I promptly came home and started throwing up. I prepared myself for a long night because I don't usually handle being sick very well. After about two hours though, I could tell it was going to be pretty bad since I had already begun to lose feeling in my hands and feet. So Matt called a neighbor to come over to be with Kennedy while he took me to an instacare... but by this point I couldn't use my legs either so he carried me down the stairs. Thanks again to my super buff husband! I mean, I know I'm not gigantic, but neither is he - so I think it was quite a feat to carry me down three flights of stairs. (Matt wanted to make sure that I inlcuded the phrase "bulging biceps"... so consider it included)

So when we got to the instacare, the doctor said that I was looking pretty bad and they needed to call an ambulance to have me taken to the ER. I got to ride in an ambulance for the first time ever!!

The only down side was, that I was far to sick to enjoy it. I don't remember what the inside even looked like because I think I only opened my eyes once to look at the paramedic. I might have even passed out, I don't really know. The only thing I remember about the ride was that it was VERY bumpy and VERY cold. Oh yeah, and they didn't turn on the lights and sirens! I think maybe I would have enjoyed the ride more if they, you know, made it a big deal or something.

Anyway, after a couple of hours in the ER with an IV, they admitted me to the 7th floor. I seriously love how well they take care of you in the hospital... I mean, if it weren't so dang expensive I would elect to go there for a stubbed toe. The nurses are SO accommodating and friendly!

I came home yesterday morning, and I feel just fine except for being a little weak still. I really am thankful for modern medicine and for a wonderful husband who helped me to get better so fast. Otherwise, how would I be able to take care of Matt while he is sick today? Yes it's true, I passed it on to him, but he hasn't thrown up and he seems to be dealing with it much better, so hopefully we will all be back to normal tomorrow! :)

(Also, thanks SO much to Becky and Jim, and also to our wonderful ward who have helped out so much. We love you!)

Oh yeah, and on a much happier note: Kennedy is officially crawling!! She skipped over the scooting phase and went straight on to hands and knees. She's amazing :) Video to come soon.

Conversation

This a real conversation that Matt and I had last night:

L: What should I be when I grow up?
M: If you want to work, you should become a librarian.
L: Why do you want me to be a librarian?
M: FREE BOOKS!

I seriously laughed forever, but he's cute isn't he?

Random Stuff

Kennedy is sick today. It seems like she is always sick, but today it is a stomach bug instead of a cold. And now I'm sick to my stomach too, but I think its from cleaning up all of Kennedy's "sick".

Anyway, she is sleeping now, and I thought "Hey, I need to blog." ... so here is a list of random things that I just thought I would put out there:

1. Yes, we got a halloween costume for Kennedy, but no - we didn't put her in it. I fully intend on dressing her up, taking pictures and then marking a post "Happy belated Halloween!" but I just haven't done it yet. I think its because I'm not really a fan of Halloween and I didn't think Kennedy was old enough to feel like she missed out quite yet... so yeah, its on my to-do list.

2. I am 100% excited about Christmas this year. This will be my first Christmas spent in Utah (weird, right?) and I am excited to just relax and be at home this year. I already have all my decorations up (including our Christmas tree and a few presents underneath) and Christmas tunes have been playing a LOT lately :) . I don't feel like I am skipping Thanksgiving (as I am often accused of) but rather that I am including it in my celebration of the Season. I really do love Thanksgiving, but I view it as an ode to Christmas rather than its own separate holiday.

3. Speaking of Thanksgiving, I am also way excited to go to Tucson for Thanksgiving! I was looking at one of my friends pictures of Tucson on facebook and it made me a little homesick. I miss all the palo verdes and palm trees. I miss the creosote. I miss the Saguaros. I miss the way the air smells... its SO much better than the air here. I miss El Molinitos, the front yards full of rocks, and even the stucco. Most of all, I miss my parents and my friends - but I am just thankful that I get to visit!

I told you it was random, but at least it was a blog, right? Pictures of Kennedy as a bumblebee are coming soon!

Someday I'll post pictures of me and Matt... but not today

Notice anything interesting about the next few photos?

Yeah, this is Kennedy's official pose. But its not just for the camera, she looks at me like this all the time, and smiles when I tip my head to mimic her. Funny, eh? She also tips her head when she sees something interesting (ie the camera)... like she's trying to explore all perspectives. She's so weird, but I love her!

Here are some bonus pictures:

ALSO, in case you are interested:

- Kennedy has shot up! well, kind of. She has grown about 2.5 inches in the last 2 months (or one of the measurements is wrong) and is now in about the 85th percentile for weight and about the 70th for height. Hooray!

- We let her "cry it out" last night and it was AWFUL. Definitely one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. She cried for just under an hour, but whined for about 30 minutes before that. That is a LONG time to listed to your baby cry. I just hope that it turns out to be helpful.

- Also, she ate a leaf today. I wouldn't have known except she threw it back up. GROoss.
